I have been Head of the Department of Psychology and Neuroscience since I am a member of AUT's Gambling and Addictions Research Centre, have served in editorial roles with several international journals, and continue to review articles for a range of international journals. My research training was originally in the experimental analyses of behaviour at The University of Auckland. I then undertook Post-Doctoral work at The Liggins Institute of The University of Auckland studying the effects of early-life nutrition on learning and development. That work was cut short by an occupational illness, and I moved to a policy and research role with the New Zealand Ministry of Health developing the Ministry's initial problem gambling research strategy. My research interests are broad involving several key collaborations, the impacts and minimisation of harmful gambling is a key area. More broadly, my interest span a range of applied and experimental areas within psychology and public health.
