Best known as a versatile composer of orchestral video game music, Jeremy Soule was drawn to the industry just as technology was beginning to offer more sophisticated scoring opportunities in the medium in the mid-'90s, jeremy soule. Born in Jeremy soule, Soule took an interest in composing symphonic music at age five, began piano lessons, and learned writing and arranging through years of private study.
He has composed soundtracks for over 60 games and over a dozen other works during his career, including The Elder Scrolls , Guild Wars , Icewind Dale , and the Harry Potter series. He became an employee of Square in after several years of private composition studies. After finishing the soundtrack to Secret of Evermore in , he left to join Humongous Entertainment , where he composed for several children's games as well as Total Annihilation , his first award-winning score. In , he left to form his own music production company, Soule Media, now called Artistry Entertainment. In , he founded DirectSong, a record label that published digital versions of his soundtracks as well as those of classical composers. DirectSong was subject to a class action lawsuit in but remained active until Soule's works have been played in several live concerts such as the Symphonic Game Music Concert in Germany and the international Play!

Since the age of five, Soule took an intense interest in the symphony orchestra. I find that it has the ability to define nearly every human emotion in existence" stated Soule from his Cascadian studio in the Great Northwest of America. Writing in a blog post published this week, indie developer Nathalie Lawhead said Soule raped them around 10 years ago. At the time, Lawhead said, they were working on an ARG for a video game developer based in Vancouver - a project for which Soule was providing music. Lawhead describes how the two became friends, and confided in Soule how important their current job was. Soule, they wrote, was "close friends with the CEO". I didn't want to jeopardise this job so I was afraid of rejecting him and tried to keep the friendship. Soule, Lawhead said, went on to tell them his work composing music required "women to inspire him". He was very threatening, and didn't listen. He made it clear that it's 'him or bust'. He raped me.

The Elder Scrolls franchise, and in particular Skyrim , is highly recognized for its soundtracks, and this franchise has given rise to the largest mods community to date. In previous research, I examined this mods community in order to consider music and sound in relation to immersion and modification in Elder Scrolls games.
