Sometime after High School, Kouta joined Team Gaim as one of their dancers to express himself as the youthful young adult he was. However, he later quits Team Gaim to help lessen the load that his sister deals with to financially sustain the two of them. This act of quitting causes his fellow dancer, Mai Takatsukasa. Kouta, a young adult, was called by Team Gaim's leader, Yuya Sumii, who wants to show him something that can help their team.

After several attempts to use the belt at work, Kouta decides to rejoin Team Gaim and use the belt to play in the Inves Games, earning him the name "Armored Rider Gaim" as he becomes Team Gaim's official member in Yuya's stead. As Kouta continued to use the belt to help further his winnings for both Team Gaim and himself, he quickly realized that the Sengoku Driver was not a toy after a near-death experience against Zangetsu. Temporarily giving up his powers, Kouta comes to the realization that with great power comes great responsiblity after seeing Mitsuzane not give in to defeat. Kouta returns to being Gaim and overcomes a predicament with Bravo.

Thankfully, he gets better once he learned to moved on from his past mistakes.
