Kenny and butters
Here, I am going to give my opinions on all the South Park ships.
In "Going Native," the friendship between the two boys is truly developed. When the boys confront Butters for beating up Scott Malkinson, Butters suddenly explodes with anger and begins to tell them all off, calling all of them "fake and stuck-up" and that the only one among them who has any sense of dignity is Kenny. This prompts Cartman to suggest that Kenny is apparently Butters' best friend, and then teases Kenny by asking if the two of them are going to make out, annoying him. Butters later learns that he was born in Hawaii, and that he must go there for his Hapa Noa. When the other boys hear about this, they manage to convince Kenny to try and stop him. When Kenny arrives at the airport, he finds Butters crying, and its revealed that he isn't allowed on the plane. Kenny then tries to get Butters to come home, but he refuses.
Kenny and butters
Aside from Kenny, Butters is probably the only friend Cartman ever had. Butters has picked up a number of habits from Cartman both positive and negative, including transphobia and misogynism, but has also notably pushed back on occasion and stood up to Cartman. Butters' relationship with Kenny has been extremely close as well, with the latter often acting like a big brother towards him despite being younger. They both usually get along well, and Butters even drew him a picture of them in an airplane together when Kenny was dying. Their friendship truly evolved in "Going Native" though, when Butters admitted that Kenny's the only kid at school that has any dignity and isn't "fake or stuck-up. Kenny can also be seen holding Butters' hand throughout most of the episode much like he does with his younger sister, Karen. When he's not hanging out with his best friends, Butters can regularly be found hanging out with Stan, Kyle or Jimmy. All three have offered him advice on numerous occasions, and for the most part stick up for him when he's being bullied. Butters also has a friend named Dougie, who he met during a meteor shower. They've grown close since then, even teaming up to take over the world. Recently, Butters formed a strong friendship with the local priest. They bonded over being outcasts at one point or another and seem to enjoy each other's company immensely. Butters has an extended group of friends that he hangs out with at school. Although they've had their share of bad moments, Butters and Scott seem to generally get along well and have formed a friendship. While their relationship is very rocky, Butters seems to be decent friends with his classmate, Wendy.

In the episode, when Butters starts acting out at school, he learns that he was not born in South Park. He and Kenny journey to Butters' homeland for his coming of age ceremony. Butters Stotch begins acting out at school, after beating up a fellow student Scott Malkinson seemingly without provocation, and then later excoriating his male classmates for being stuck-up and disingenuous save for Kenny McCormick , who he says is the only one who has any sense of dignity. When his parents learn of his increased anger, they explain to Butters that they are originally from Hawaii , that Butters is undergoing a biological stage that is similar to the instinct that compels salmon to migrate , and that he must make a solitary journey to his birthplace, to participate in a ceremony called hapanoa. They tell him that he is Hawaiian royalty, as his grandparents were in Hawaii at the time of "The King" , and give him a " Mahalo Rewards Card" to assist him in completing his journey.
Butters is the most naive and gullible of South Park 's main characters, meaning that he's frequently anxious and easily tricked into nasty situations. He's been around since the very beginning of the show, but he was a peripheral character until Season 3. His role has continued to expand, to the point that he is now the de facto fifth member of the group, along with Kyle, Kenny, Stan, and Cartman. While Butters may be sweet, he also harbors a lot of resentment, which manifests itself in his evil alter ego Professor Chaos. This makes him an especially great foil for Cartman, and some of the show's funniest storylines revolve around the two of them. Showrunners Trey Parker and Matt Stone have created numerous episodes revolving around the fan-favorite character, Butters. After the other boys fire Butters from his position as the new Kenny, he takes on the persona of "Professor Chaos," a supervillain bent on causing mayhem and destruction.
Kenny and butters
South Park just wrapped its 25th and shortest season, not including the ones that were cut short due to the COVID pandemic. While many enjoyed this season, the shorter length meant some characters were left out of the story. Kenny McCormick barely makes it in as a season regular as the episodes prefer to focus in on Stan and Cartman this time around. That's a shame because historically when Kenny gets a moment to shine he ends up owning the whole episode and turning in some of the funniest moments in the show's history. Kenny dies a lot, sometimes quite gruesomely. In the early seasons of the show, Kenny ended almost every episode dying in some horrific, albeit hilarious way. His death would then lead to the famous: "They killed, Kenny! In "Kenny Dies" the character kicks it for real this time.
