Medivh's Tower [1] is an abandoned citadel or castle [2] located on a nexus of ley lines [3] in southern Deadwind Pass. The tower is best known for its last known occupant — Medivh , the last Guardian of Tirisfal. After Medivh was killed by Khadgar , Anduin Lothar , and Garona , the tower sealed itself off from the rest of the world. But recently, Karazhan has reawakened — an evil presence has taken the tower as its own, its halls crawling with spirits and demons, and with the Shade of Medivh , his power being so great that his magic still echoes through the halls of Karazhan. It is impossible to set eyes upon Karazhan without reflecting on the dark saga of its master. As befitting his title, the Last Guardian of Tirisfal had amassed a vast collection of writings and artifacts that dwarfs even that of the Kirin Tor. Following the third invasion of the Burning Legion , Khadgar moved into the tower, seeking knowledge to save Azeroth. Karazhan , as a level 70 ten-man raid instance, was opened in World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade. Return to Karazhan is a megadungeon released in World of Warcraft: Legion. The land which the tower sits on "was similar in shape to a human skull. Many had noted it over the years, though only a few had been sufficiently brave, or powerful, or tactless to mention it to the property's owner".

This raid was designed for level 70 characters and opened near the beginning of World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade. The raid is a single huge wing containing seven stories and 17 map pages containing both the lower guest complex and upper tower, with some shortcuts. It encompasses twelve boss encounters, some scripted with different possibilities per week from 22 different NPCs. These four must be defeated in order, but all other bosses are optional. The final boss is Prince Malchezzar , as the tower's last known occupant — Medivh 's presence as the last Guardian of Tirisfal being somewhat absent due to his death.

Karazhan is often regarded as the first raid that many players will encounter in World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade Classic. But finding the entrance to the raid can be seen as the first obstacle that players will have to overcome to complete the instance. Nestled deep in the chasms of Deadwind Pass, Karazhan is a relatively well-hidden instance that can be often overlooked by the naked eye. The zone is often regarded as being good for one thing: serving as the home of Karazhan. Horde players can reach the zone by coming in from the Swamp of Sorrows after using a portal or Flight Master to get to Stonard. Skip to content Category: World of Warcraft. Michael Kelly.
