As the first and only osteopathic medical school in Kansas, KansasCOM is deeply committed to serving the diverse medical needs of our communities to ensure access to high-quality care for all. We work closely with local hospitals and clinics — including St. Catherine Hospital of Garden City—to provide a direct connection to local and experienced physicians so our osteopathic medical students can make an impact on their community.

Our new, innovative medical school located in the heart of downtown Wichita is the training ground for the next generation of osteopathic physicians. Our state-of-the-art facilities incorporate the latest advances in medical technology. Everyone deserves access to quality health care. Many of our citizens lack basic access to health care, and there is a nationwide shortage of physicians, which is anticipated to increase over the next 10 years. This will directly impact our state and the citizens who need access to care. One study found that 92 counties in Kansas are considered partially or wholly underserved, due to a lack of physicians. Rural areas in Kansas would need 83 new primary care physicians each year to fill the void. We believe in serving local communities and using a team-based approach to medicine that focuses on the whole patient—not just symptoms. KHSC is committed to providing exceptional programs that produce forward-thinking, empathetic health care leaders who are dedicated to innovation, research, and finding collective solutions to advance underserved communities.
