I had a less than satisfactory experience with a dealership that I trusted with a deposit for a car that wasn't even available for a demo drive. They had given me an ETA of two years, which turned out to be just a promise on paper. Unfortunately, my family encountered a medical emergency for a member overseas and we had to divert all our funds towards supporting them. Buying a new car was no longer a priority. Since the car was still just a promise, I asked to cancel my position in the queue and receive a refund, as advised by a car dealer friend. However, the response I received was not very courteous, and they held onto my deposit. It was disheartening to see that the dealer was more concerned about their paper queue and money, rather than showing any sympathy during my family's difficult time.
