I have had my KLR for five years now and have found it to be incredibly reliable. Good riding, and capable of long mountain or desert rides on single track with good handling. Most importantly it goes from Road to trail with ease. Range is limited with only miles until I hit reserve in Great adventure bike without the weight. My KLR handled like a heavy stone in the desert.

The clutch is easy to control because there is pretty good torque right above idle. One major downfall of the KLR is that it only has a kickstart. Simple is sometimes better, especially if you just want to ride and not worry about having to adjust anything that seems complicated. Overall, the KLR suspension is pretty soft, which is good for casual trail riding and cruising around the city. The stock front forks are very basic and plush, but also reliable. Upgrading to stiffer springs may be necessary, or changing to a heavier weight fork oil Amazon to slow down the compression and rebound, as well as increasing the oil height to reduce the amount of air, making it harder to compress. You can also add or remove a little bit of air in the forks to essentially make them feel stiffer. The stock shock is also fairly simple and soft, although it does have two external adjustments.
