She also understands that while Kyo may be possessed by the cat, he is his own person, and she tries hard to get to know him for who he is. Tohru ends up slipping and falling into Kyo, causing him to turn into his cat form. While their relationship starts off rocky, Kyo soon goes out of his way to try and fight his initial instincts to be deflective and brash. When Tohru and Kyo are first introduced to each other, there is a lot of tension between them. This leads to Tohru thinking that Kyo hates her and Kyo believing that she will end up disliking him just like everyone else.
