L15b7 engine
By John Cousins May 16, in Guest. I wanted a forever car and i'm having this car properly engineered in the hope that it's a perfect mix of old vs new with quiet, mild road manners but plenty of punch when asked. The engine I have purchased has come with the factory ECU but obviously being from i'm expecting headaches with regard to the ECU not seeing multiple CAN nodes and probably de-rating the engine, or worse still, not allowing it to start at all. That's before we get to the whole immobiliser side of things! Just wondering if anyone has played around with a Honda GDI engine and a Link or would I be kind of pioneering my way through this? Obviously passing an emission check is critical for this build but it's not the full check, I think WA requires just requires the vehicle to pass a 5 gas analysis. Also keen to know what electronic dash displays play well with link as it's probably just easier to swap to a completely new display than make the existing dash work with the new engine. This combo is quite commonly used in aircraft. Looking to dive into this swap as soon as possible. I simultaneously sent a message to Technical Support and they are currently trying to steer me toward the G5.
L15B9 - hp kW at 5, rpm, lb-ft Nm at 1, rpm, l15b7 engine. To reduce the temperature of intake air compressed and heated by the turbocharger, Honda's 1. These technologies are: High Geometry CR.
The L-series is a compact inline-four engine created by Honda , introduced in with the Honda Fit. It has 1. Two different valvetrains are present on this engine series. This process allows the engine to have more power while keeping fuel consumption low, thanks to the better gasoline utilization. Emissions are also reduced. The i-DSI engines have two to five valves per cylinder and a modest redline of only 6, rpm, but reach maximum torque at mid-range rpm, allowing for better performance without having to rev the engine at high speeds.

The test method involved installing the engine and its CVT in an engine dynamometer test cell with the engine wiring harness tethered to its vehicle parked outside the test cell. This paper documents the test results for idle, low, medium and high load engine operation, as well as motoring torque, wide-open throttle torque and fuel consumption during transient operation using both EPA Tier 2 and Tier 3 test fuels. Particular attention is given to characterizing enrichment control during high load engine operation. The design and performance of the 1. The NCAT team benchmarks advanced technologies using laboratory test methods to characterize engine controls and fuel consumption. NCAT leverages in-depth, detailed engineering analyses along with extensive engine and chassis dynamometer laboratory testing to evaluate advanced vehicle, engine and transmission technology. Both laboratory test data and ALPHA simulation results continue to be used to support evaluation of light-duty vehicle fuel economy and greenhouse gas emissions standards and are also being used to evaluate the gap between laboratory and actual in-use emissions.

It took Honda nine generations of the Civic to finally concede that Boost is Best! Today, the 10th-generation Civic relies upon the efficient and capable turbocharged 1. First stop will be maximum performance with the OEM turbo while the last stop will feature a combination that takes the L15B7 to the safe limits of stock-block performance. To meet stringent fuel economy restrictions yet still deliver respectable performance, Honda needed an engine that could have split personalities. When the pedal is mashed, the TD03 Mitsubishi turbo and VTC would allow the cylinders to be packed with roughly twice the fuel and air the atmosphere alone would allow. The result was the best of both worlds. The stroke selected For testing and evaluation, we used a Civic Si running on California-spec octane gasoline and, when specified, a mixture of octane and pump E85 fuel. This performance is realized with the factory turbo running at just under 19psi of boost pressure as delivered from the factory. For our benchmark, we tested a Civic Type-R running on octane pump gasoline.

Fuel type. Ten of the technologies, represented by the columns with red text titles in the Table 9 , are either present in the specific engine the row , or they are absent. Other boosted engines are known to be beginning to apply more Miller cycle operation, including the Mazda 2. Table 10 shows that application of deacFC to the Honda 1. Figure A7. Introduced for the model year, the Civic Si Sedan and Coupe were powered by a horsepower version of the 1. For the bigger 2. VTEC variable valve timing is now used on the exhaust side of the twin-cam head. DOI: Vehicle Tethering The objective of this benchmarking was to characterize the engine while operating in an engine dynamometer test cell as though it were operating in the vehicle. The table shows a pair of ALPHA vehicle simulation results of an example mid-sized car weighing pounds; the top result uses the engine map from Honda published image, the bottom result of the pair uses the engine map from the EPA test data. Code of Federal Regulations for chassis dynamometer testing [ 5 ].
Honda L15 engines are a variant of the vast L-series of engines. It appears in many models of Honda cars and created an avenue for compact and subcompact engine cars. However, L15 engines took all of that right in the face and proved that they are worthy of praise, and their different and diverse versions say a lot about what L15 engines can offer.
Twin oil jets directed at the underside of each piston crown keep the pistons cool to help prevent detonation, and ion-plated piston rings help reduce friction for greater operating efficiency. The pair of simulations of the example vehicle shows a 1. This graph was generated by logging a load sweep over 60 seconds and shows both the same torque signals, one sampled in the crank angle domain CAD and the other sampled in the time domain. So that means there may be significant hardware differences compared to our L15B base map. Due to aggressive pricing in place to provide the best opportunity for everyone to be able to purchase this product, discount codes may not be used. This engine-CVT setup also enabled idling measurements with transmission in park, neutral, or drive, with the torque converter locked or unlocked, and with the CVT output shaft locked or unlocked. The steady improvement in peak and cycle efficiency advances with some of the newer engines shown in Table 8 appears to be due to the incorporation of multiple advanced technologies, including continued reductions in parasitic losses lower viscosity oil, for example , better boosting and boost control see discussion in Appendix C , better charge mixing leading to improved knock mitigation and higher compression ratios, application of cooled EGR, and the emergence of fast wide-authority variable valve timing to enable Miller cycle modes of operation. The exhaust system outlet is connected to the constant volume sampling system CVS dilution tunnel via 2-inch diameter tubing. The efficiency of the Honda 1. The choice of mechanically-driven supercharger, as opposed to turbocharging, may be due to insufficient exhaust energy to effectively drive the exhaust turbine. Before EPA completed its benchmarking of the Honda 1. Engines with geometric compression ratios of
