We are a custom feedlot and our operation can hold 3, head of cattle at any given time and we turn out 7, head of finished cattle per year. Here at Larson Grain Farms, we believe that to be successful we have to be good stewards of our land. We are not only dedicated to producing an excellent crop, but we are also committed to the land that we farm. It is our responsibility to maintain the quality of the natural resources we interact with daily so that they may be intact for the enjoyment of future generations. The Larson Family was an early pioneer family with a story that begins in with the arrival of Erick Larson emigrating from Sweden. Taking advantage of the homestead act in he took out a claim in newly established Mitchell County near Beloit, KS. Here he brought his new wife Emma originally from Ukna Sweden to attempt a life as a farmer on the edge of the frontier. After traveling to the small town of Mayday, Kansas in Riley County near the current day Green, Kansas the family decided to purchase acres of Flint hills grass and creek bottom-land on March 6 th Since we have continuously maintained a beef cow herd and grown crops in the area. Standing at the headquarters is a home finished in built by Erick and son John that has seen 7 generations of Larsons live within its walls. Riley County is located in an area known as the Flint Hills. The flint hills area is the last of the tall grass prairie in the United States. The land is characterized by rolling hills, sharp scenic bluffs, abundant limestone, tree filled creek valleys, numerous springs, native warm season perennial grasses and productive farm ground.

At Larson Farm, we share a vision of healthy communities, healthy people and a sustainable food system build on good stewardship of our natural resources. The land, cattle and dairy products are certified organic. Healthy soils mean healthy cattle who produce nutrient-rich foods free of artificial chemicals and pesticides. Our vision is to provide fresh nutritious dairy products to local and regional markets while being good stewards of the land and caring for our sweet Jersey dairy cows. In there were no opportunities in Connecticut for a young couple to start dairy farming, so Rich and Cynthia Larson came to Vermont, dreaming of owning a farm. Three years later, they made it happen, purchasing the farm in Wells. We farmed conventionally back then, but changed as we realized the problems with that model.
