More specifically, Leduc is located on Highway 13 near the crossroads with Highways 49 and ; however, it has never been an integral part of either highway's history. The City of Leduc was incorporated in , and is named after the town of Leduc, France. Leduc is currently Alberta's 19th largest city. The first inhabitants of the area were aboriginal peoples including the Blood, Kutenai and Stoney tribes. The Grand Trunk Pacific Railway built their line through this area in and called it "Inglewood", which was later renamed "Leduc" after an early settler named Louis Leduc.
