The M5 motorway in the UK is a motorway running from junction 8 of the M4 motorway near Maidenhead, Berkshire to Exeter in Devon and is approximately km miles long. It opened in sections between and and is part of the Intra-Urban Motorway Network.

A "police-led incident" on the M5 forced a closure on the motorway. The incident was reported to have taken place between junctions 26 for Wellington and 25 for Taunton. National Highways said a road closure had been set up and Avon and Somerset Police had attended the scene. A diversion route was also set up.
