Lotr three elven rings
The Rings of Power are some of the most important artifacts from the Lord of the Rings series.
There are actually many Rings of Power in the Lord of the Rings series. Though much of the story is focused on the quest to destroy the One Ring, there are other Rings that other beings possess. Seven were given to the Dwarves. And the Elves possess three. Sauron played a role in the creation of the nine Rings given to men and the seven Rings given to the Dwarves, but not the three possessed by the Elves. So why did their power fade after the destruction of the One Ring if Sauron played no role in their creation? To understand the answer to this question, it is crucial to know how the Rings of Power were created as well as their purposes.

Naturally, that means that first the other rings need to be forged — 19 in all, divided between the different races of Middle-earth. That being the case, it's no surprise the first season ended with the first three rings being forged. Tolkien's own notes stressed the Elven rings were created because the Elves feared the passage of time. The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power revealed the Elves are dying or, rather, fading , and must either abandon Middle-earth or vanish. The Elven smith Celebrimbor discovered a potential solution lay in mithril, and he was inspired to craft a sample from the Dwarves into a crown. Plans changed, however, in part because of the manipulation of Sauron, who had earned Celebrimbor's confidence under the alias of Halbrand. The story is subtly different from the one told in Tolkien's notes and appendices for The Lord of the Rings , but it's clearly rooted in them nonetheless. Here's everything viewers need to know about the three Elven rings: Vilya, Nenya, and Narya. Celebrimbor was one of the greatest smiths of all time, but even he found it impossible to forge with mithril. Sauron, however, had apparently been experimenting with this kind of magic for quite some time; he was able to give advice on how to use mithril, suggesting first an alloy and then a gentler means of forging rather than the more forceful approaches Celebrimbor had been attempting. The original idea had been to create a mithril crown, which Celebrimbor presumably intended to be worn by the Elven king Gil-Galad. But there was too little mithril to do this, so instead Celebrimbor opted for rings. Galadriel was the one who decided that there should be three rings. Having become aware that Halbrand was really Sauron , she realized the Elves had been manipulated. Warned by a vision, she insisted there should not be one ring, for that would create a ruler and a potential tyrant; nor should there be two, because that would sow division.

Unlike the other great rings, the One was created as an unadorned gold band similar in appearance to the lesser rings, though it bore Sauron's incantation, the Ring Verse, in the Black Speech; it became visible only when heated, whether by fire or by Sauron's lotr three elven rings.
These were the only three made outside the influence of Sauron , though they too fell under the power of his One Ring. His armies overwhelmed Eregion , and he gathered most of the rings to himself, but four of the Great Rings were lost to him. Narya and Vilya had already been sent into the north by Celebrimbor , and were in the safekeeping of High King Gil-galad. Galadriel kept her Elven-ring throughout the later years of the Second Age , and the duration of the Third. With the destruction of Sauron's One Ring in the last years of the Third Age , the Elven-rings also lost their power, including the Three. All rights reserved.

Lotr three elven rings
The Rings of Power were twenty magical rings forged in the Second Age , seventeen of which were intended by Sauron to seduce the rulers of Middle-earth to evil. Disguised as the benevolent entity Annatar , Sauron taught the Elf -smiths of Eregion , led by Celebrimbor , how to craft these rings. Nineteen were made: three rings for the Elves, seven rings for the Dwarves , and nine rings for Men. The nineteen lesser Rings were linked to the power of the One, and were dependent on it. Their wearers could be controlled by the wearer of the One, and if the One was destroyed, their own powers would fade with the power of the Rings under the One. The impetus for their creation came from Sauron, who could at that time still assume an appearance fair enough to deceive at least some of the Elves.
