Join the long-awaited Diecast Project! Initially called "Lou" in early concepts of Cars , Luigi's name was changed for unknown reasons. He usually has the role of a supporting character that assists Lightning McQueen and other characters by providing tires. He also makes frequent playable appearances in the Cars video games. He works with his business partner and best friend, Guido. However, Luigi begins to like him after a while, like the other townsfolk do, and joins Lightning's crew at the Los Angeles International Speedway as Guido's coach. In Cars: The Videogame , Luigi stars in his own mini-game, Luigi to the Rescue , in which the player controls him as he sets out to find all of the missing tires and return them to the shop within the given time limit.

In Mater and the Ghostlight , Guido is first seen where Mater is hidden from the pile of tires and later helps the others to prank Mater into thinking that the Ghostlight is after him by placing a lamp on his tow hook. In Cars: Mater-National Championship , Luigi and Guido are showing off their new paint jobs when Lightning and Mater drive up, asking them why they are painted like that. They get excited when Giovanni drives up, and challenges them to a race, although Guido does not compete. He is later seen trying to straighten the tires that keep leaning due to the rumble of Monster McQueen.
