Makerist does add a thank you page before the pattern, but hasn't really changed anything that I noticed on my patterns. In fact I have some of my pattern photos watermarked and some not. I understand your concerns. The sale certainly did generate some sales for me. But if I join in on them all, I might not sell my patterns at regular prices later?

Berlin-based Makerist would love to work with more American crafters. They recently entered the North American market, and founders Axel Heinz and Amber Riedl and their team are particularly interested in working with U. With Craftsy, now Bluprint, significantly reducing the size of its pattern marketplace recently, Makerist is hoping to bring more of those designers onto its platform. Makerist handles logistics, billing, payments and customer service for all designers who build a store to sell digital goods on their platform. While the company has been in business since , they have solely focused on the three vertical areas of sewing, knitting and crochet, and have few plans to expand beyond that though they did listen to their designers and customers last year and added vinyl cutting designs. That limited focus and slow expansion is a piece of what Makerist sees as its sustainability model. They support sustainable fashion and showed support for the Fashion Revolution campaign. Currently, Makerist has just above sellers in the United States as opposed to the more than they have in Germany and the they have in France. Their business model allows the pattern designers and video instructors to set their own prices, and to receive an percent commission minus a cent transaction charge that is paid monthly via PayPal or direct bank account deposit. Makerist sells more than 6. They sell patterns and videos in three languages: English, French and German. Designers who speak any of those languages or have patterns that have been translated can sell on one, two or all three platforms. Makerist is working on a public relations campaign that will tell their Designer Success Stories, highlighting their entrepreneurial journeys.

So, during February, Makerist and My Fabrics are running a Valentines challenge over on Instagram and the idea is that you create a sketch or mood board of your dream Valentines Day outfit. My Fabrics are a fab online fabric seller with a really wide range of dressmaking and home wear fabrics, knitting supplies and haberdashery. Not being the best at drawing or sketching, I decided to create myself a mood board of inspiration for my dream outfit. Soon, as is the way with Pinterest, I was drawn down the rabbit hole of looking at pretty dress after pretty dress. There were loads of lovely outfits over there but my top three were definitely these. Wrap dresses appear to be everywhere at the moment again and I really love the floaty midi length style of these. I really love finding outfits online or on the high street and seeing how I can recreate them for myself with the sewing patterns I already own — such fun!

Finally, as a proof reader and editor, I have a hard time with what I call "lazy" mistakes. The following is taken directly from their designer contract: The Designer may promote their own brand on their Makerist profile. And rest assured that I acknowledge all comments, either here or via email. Not being the best at drawing or sketching, I decided to create myself a mood board of inspiration for my dream outfit. And I have to tell you, it's cumbersome to scroll through an image file to read something. Unfortunately for me, I took the time to brand my PDFs from the beginning. Now I buy from people who I know how they write a pattern and good designers do offer some free patterns to see how they write. I was able to see an example of it for myself, of course, when I purchased the Fritz Frog pattern.
