Just be ready, they are safe and reliable, but they are not like the first class buses, which are closer to like riding a plane than a bus. These are like riding a bus and all that goes with that … especially in Mexico! The primary second class carrier in the area is called Mayab. They travel up and down highway , the main north-south traffic artery in the state, all day and even into the night. The big difference between first and second class buses is that the first class only do specific point to point stops and destinations. If you want to get on one, you can only do so at set stops in terminals. This allows them to run on time and be relatively fast because they make few stops. Second class buses, like Mayab, will stop and pick up people along the road between terminals as well.

Longer route busses will have a bathroom on board. They also run the same routes as the ADO bus.

But, one of the best — and the cheapest — modes of transport to explore the Mexican Riviera is the ADO intercity bus system. There are taxis outside of the bus station that can take you the rest of the way. We like to take the ADO from th airport and are wondering if they allow our little dogs on the bus? Exciting the ferry with lots of luggage is no problem since young men with tricycle taxis are right there where you reclaim your bags. I will be taking the bus from cancun airport to hilton all inclusive playa del carmen. The only alternative is one of the colectivos going north on the highway. Can I buy the ticket the same morning? Also the loud speaker for announcing trips is also so loud you can hear it a kilometer away Please lower the volume we as people are not deaf. For example, there are beach towns and cenotes natural springs on either side of the highway between Playa del Carmen and Tulum about a mile stretch. Please, can you help? You can buy tickets at all hours so that is not an issue. Playa Del Carmen has two bus stations. Within Playa del Carmen, the hub of the Riviera Maya, there are two bus stations for longer travel an hour or more , plus the city network of buses, collectivos, and taxis. Usualy a day or two in advance is fine and they will not be sold out. There is bag storage but often things get opened at that station. Thanks for all the tips and articles. You can also take the colectivos from 2nd street to Akumal and take a taxi from the highway. If you have luggage, a taxi is the best way to go. The buses were very comfortable and affordable. There is only one bus a day so if you can, by it ahead of time. We looked at the seating one week from now and all seats were available.
