Once Mega evolved, Gyarados drops the Flying type and gains Dark. With this switch, it loses its death weakness to Electric 4x to 2xbut picks up the Dark weaknesses, Mega gyarados team, Fighting, and Fairy. This is another example of a beastly attacker with a decent defense.
