When we built we went to the "local" Lincoln lighting store and they reviewed our plans, made a lighting plan, and priced us fixtures and ceiling fans. Our electrician told us just to go to Menards and he'd install it. We spent a few thousand there and have not had any problems with them. I think it was mostly Hunter brand fixtures we ended up with. Several of the ceiling fans run nearly all the time and 4. I built a new house 2 years ago went to Menards for all electrical was cheaper there than HD or Lowes pluming came from Lowes PS I like my tankless water heater just my 2 cents.

Hi All, Looking to replace my doors with some Mastercraft doors from Menards. Price is good but I'm curious on the quality of them. The closest Menards is miles away so its tough for me to see them for myself. Any ideas or thoughts truly appreciated. Thanks, Joe. I use to like them, but Menards is going back to their roots - lower quality stock. Growing up in MN, we use to joke about how Menards was were the other stores sent their rejects 30 years ago and now I'm starting to feel that way again. The last two exterior doors we bought one 6 years and one 4 years ago we have now replaced and I am amazed at how much better these new doors are. The one we replaced in December, and we looked over the Mastercraft and they had not improved from when we bought the other ones. We ordered the doors from the local lumber yard, and they came from a small manufacturer out of North Dakota. The frames are the worst problem - finger jointed boards that are thinner than most so you need to do more shimming and they are a pain to get installed right as they won't hold square. Right now I have two Mastercraft doors on teh shop, they will eventually be replaced we bought them when we moved in 7 years ago. Have one on the garden shed that will stay - it came off the house and is good enough for the shed the one we bought 6 years ago.
Gary Lamonte 3 years ago. Designers look beyond painted accent walls to wallpaper, layered artwork, paneling and more. I have the oak mission style.

Lee has over two decades of hands-on experience remodeling, fixing, and improving homes, and has been providing home improvement advice for over 13 years. Solid wood doors have long been considered the premium—and only—choice for homes. But as times have changed, innovations have come along that place other doors—hollow core and solid-core—on an equal playing field with solid wood doors. At first glance, many wood interior passage doors and wood exterior doors do look and feel like they are made entirely of solid wood. It's a clever simulation because, in most cases, these doors use construction methods designed to make them only look like solid wood—while avoiding some of the drawbacks of solid wood doors. Wood doors used in residential construction come in three types: solid wood, solid core, and hollow core. Solid wood doors are just as the name says: made all of wood.

When you drive down any midwestern street, you will come across a unique tapestry of style, neighborhoods filled with homes with doors reflecting the unique style, personality, and security. For generations, these doors are made by people who live in communities that take pride in craftsmanship and build amazing doors. Your door is the first thing that someone will see while entering your house, so it needs to be crafty and beautiful too. So, it needs to be perfect for the same, and at Mastercraft, they make the doors of your dreams. You open and close a door many times a day, going in and going out. Sometimes you slam and kick them in anger, and your neighbors and guests knock on it when they visit you.

I got ahold of them and they took forever to get back with me to even start to try and get something done. The actual window on it was not properly sealed on either door. Give your rooms an edge with a trim treatment that shows attention to detail. Pay attention to the details on these items to get exactly what you want while staying within budget. Strongly suggest Lowes over MasterCraft. My husband and I bought a new front door from them for the house we purchased in January. I wouldn't do a whole house with the doors from the big box stores. We are now into March with several storms that have occurred and water leaking in around the windows and all over the floors. Electrical outlets are an example. If one door of a double door set using the 4 point locking system was bad at arrival Menards would have to send an entirely new set of two doors back to the client, not just one door. Quality of the finished was pathetic, assembled by a 6 yr old with a staple gun. If You want proof, just do a search for cordless tools. I wouldn't exactly call them solid core, but they don't feel hollow. We purchased it at Menards and let me tell you it was junk. I have been told the that the big box store faucets are not the same quality of the true plumbing store. I contacted the company regarding the warping on the first door and they sent a new window, which I know will also warp in the same manner, so have not bothered to change out. Be forewarned. Strongly suggest Lowes over MasterCraft. In general, the panels are wider-grained while the rails and styles are tighter grained. Click to expand MANelson85 Active member.
