What size milk crate works for a MX bike stand and where do you get them from? What am I missing? The one I got is made by MSR and it is about 17" tall. For my Son's KX65, I just used a regualr Milk Crate - it's perfect - a piece of plywood as a lid with a couple of hinges, great for storing all those track necessities. For a , you can just build a sub frame out of 2x4's or 2x6's and screw in on through the bottom to raise the crate. I've seen one where the wood frame had a plywood bottom to it, the milk crate flipped using hinges and it allowed you to store stuff in the sub frame. For a full size bike, just cough it up and get a real stand.

Do you or have you used a plastic milk crate for a front or rear cargo carrier Yes, Works great, Cheap and cheerful, Votes: 18 No, Too weird, Y'er outa y'er mind, Votes: 6 Total voters What's y0our take on the things? I use one myself because it seems to be pretty handy. It's extra work to simply strap or bungee things down on my Cycleracks rear rack, so I affixed the crate. Mine is simply held onto my rear rack with two screw type hose clamps on the back. The front just sort of flops around but is steadied enough by the downward torque of the screw clamps fitted on the back.
Since this is an issue for me, on other bikes i may prefer a solution that doesnt have any crate or basket higher than the seat. All rights reserved. Go to topic listing.

Recently I order a half-case of wine on the Internet, and the six bottles were delivered in a large box to our office via UPS. Carrying fragile cargo requires care and finesse. Three bottles, nestled inside a special cardboard carrying box, fit perfectly in the trunk. After tearing the cardboard box that held the bottle case into small pieces, I layered the cardboard strips and extra shirts between six bottles laid horizontally in each pannier. But all of us—wife, me and 9 liters of primo vino—arrived safe and sound.

Seems to fit the personality of the Tdub to a tee. There is actually some milk in that crate!?!? For that matter I could just junk my weird Mr. I mounted and carried Rotopax on it. I spent about an hour one day trying different ways to secure my crate with the least number of connections that was secure and stable, as well as non-catastrophic if one of them failed.
Bicycles are used for multiple purposes, but one of the handiest a bike can offer individuals is a platform to carry loads around. There are different methods for carrying groceries, supplies, and other heavy loads. Typically, people use backpacks, straps, and racks until they discover the cheapest and most convenient way is to use a milk crate on bike.
This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. I can fit a week's groceries and then some. Steering gets funny if I put much weight in the front one, so it's usually removed. I've seen one where the wood frame had a plywood bottom to it, the milk crate flipped using hinges and it allowed you to store stuff in the sub frame. If the stuff I carry is light I bungee it in because I've had stuff blow out on me. Find More Posts by xenologer. Milk crates work great but are a little wider than I like. You'll really aren't going to like my plan for the tank one little bit, so apologies in advance. Um, you are planning on procuring that crate legally, right?
