With the addition of Amethyst Geodes in the Caves and Cliffs Update, I felt that Emerald Geodes would be a neat feature in addition to amethyst geodes. The idea of emerald geodes is to incentivize mining for emeralds, rather than trading for them and also provides less experienced players with a relatively intuitive way of farming emeralds. Emerald geodes look and behave very similarly to Amethyst Geodes, except they spawn exclusively in Mountain-type biomes. They are an easily-renewable source of emeralds, that can be automated without the need for tedious villager trading! Quartz geodes are a little more special. While their growth mechanics are identical to amethyst and emerald geodes, they generate exclusively in The Nether, and with tuff instead of calcite. Their buds also have a special oscillator property.

An amethyst geode is a feature found in the underground of the Overworld. Amethyst geodes contain smooth basalt , calcite , and are the main source of amethyst items and blocks. Amethyst geodes consist of three layers: an outer layer of smooth basalt , a middle layer of calcite , and a hollow layer of primarily amethyst blocks , with 8. Amethyst crystals generate within the structure on budding amethyst. Caves , aquifers , and canyons may be overridden by geodes, [1] and as such are often obstructed by them. The CurseForge and Modrinth mod pages as well as this repository are the only official download pages for this mod, do not trust any version of this mod from elsewhere! Emerald geodes behave very similarly to amethyst geodes; they generate at high elevations throughout the Overworld, though they are must abundant in Mountain-type biomes. They are encased in calcite and smooth basalt casings underground and can grow emerald crystal buds. When these buds are harvested, they of course drop emeralds. This provides an automate-able alternative to emerald farming than just trading endlessly. Quartz Geodes generate in The Nether and have many similarities to amethyst geodes and emerald geodes. Quartz buds and clusters grow on budding quartz, but budding quartz cannot be harvested.

Small Lapis Buds will drop a chunk of Pyrite when mined, so there is a reason to farm them over the clusters. They also only have one cluster type, which will drop 1 diamond when broken, scaling with fortune. Don't have an account? It is possible that they can even break bedrock when they spawn. You can help the Minecraft Wiki by expanding this article. This does exactly as it says: it disables the generation of emerald and quartz ore so that geodes are the only way to obtain their respective resources from mining, anyway. Other uses to come! Ad via Adrinth. The frequency of these pulses increases as the crystal grows. While their growth mechanics are identical to amethyst and emerald geodes, they generate exclusively in The Nether, and with tuff instead of calcite. All you need to go is place it down, right click it, and it will attempt to locate a nearby geode. Echo blocks, budding echo blocks, and all the echo crystals behave very similarly to their amethyst counter parts - except they echo whenever they make a sound! However, they can also be sometimes exposed on the surface, most commonly in oceans and beaches, just like underwater ruins. When powered with an external redstone signal, they will pulse on and off, emiting their own redstone signal! Echo shards can be used to craft the new Echo Locator, a block that is capable of 'echo locating' geodes. Their buds also have a special oscillator property. They also only have one cluster type, which will drop 1 diamond when broken, scaling with fortune. The geode blocks are movable but will stack in creative and survival mode.
