The Miranda Rule has a somewhat unusual status in criminal procedure law because although the Court created the rule to enforce the Self-Incrimination Clause of the Fifth Amendment, the Justices have not announced consistent views on whether violations of Miranda are—in and of themselves—violations of the Constitution.
