The Aquinas women's volleyball team announced the signing of Morgan Smith to the program. Smith started her high school volleyball career during her freshman year on the JV team as a middle blocker. She then moved on to the varsity team during her sophomore year where she became an outside hitter and a six-rotation player. She was an All-Conference nominee and helped her team win the conference championship. Smith's junior year was full of individual and team accomplishments. She was named All-Conference and was an All-Area honorable mention. Smith helped her team win a conference as well as a district championship. The team was the regional runner-up in and came in first place in the Gold bracket at the Byron Center Chrisi Curtis Memorial Tournament. Her senior year consisted of even more personal achievements as she was named an All-State Honorable Mention as well as a member of the All-Region, All-Area and All-Conference teams. She became the team captain during her senior campaign. Aquinas will be even closer to home for me than my high school so my family can easily visit which includes my Grandpa who is an Alumni and former Saint basketball player. I am very excited to represent the Aquinas Saints on the women's volleyball team in the fall. In addition to being a part of a club team, she plays beach volleyball as well where she was on a first place team at the West Michigan Beach Volleyball Under Tournament in Grand Haven in July of her junior year. She had the 4 best play of the week for a kill with her foot for Catholic Central against Bloomfield Hills. She plans to study sports management and kinesiology at Aquinas.
