For the longest time Muzan believed that he was untouchable, that was before he came across Yoriichi Tsugikuni, the inventor of the breathing styles and the person who invented the first breathing style, sun breathing. Yoriichi was known to be the strongest Demon Slayer to have ever lived. During their confrontation Muzan had underestimated Yoriichi's power and was quickly overthrown, when cornered, Muzan blew himself up scattering himself into a thousand pieces, the flesh pieces that did survive was enough for him to regenerate his body and escape.
