Hello and welcome to the Aurora Arts Theatre! The cast, crew, and band have been tirelessly rehearsing many hours to make this production possible. Next to Normal is a powerful rock musical filled with honesty and inexorable intensity. It brings to every viewer an array of complex issues that reflect the emotional journey of a family. Its message is powerful and is sure to resonate. Continuing His Legacy Ed Chapa was a fiercely passionate man with big aspirations and a love for the arts. What started as a simple thought shared with his wife, Mary, grew into a vision that was realized with the inception of the Aurora. The success of the Aurora lives on as a testament to the strength of his vision and of his faith in the many volunteers and community supporters who gave of their time and hearts as much as he gave of his. During this two week long day camp, our theatre staff will guide students ages 7 - 15 through acting, dancing, singing, and choreography! Spaces are limited. Ever since I listened to the mesmerizing music and read the intricate summary of the musical, Next to Normal, I hoped that the show would come to Corpus Christi. This Tony Award winning, Pulitzer Prize winning piece of work leads its viewers through an emotional journey of a family living through the psychological issues that come with loss. As such, the story may seem to parallel some of our own lives or the lives of someone we know.
