Look at the nose at that one on the left. He could smoke a cigar in the shower. Both look like they could use a good scrubbing. And lots of dental work.
A note from the new music director at Lyon:. It is, all attempts at humour aside, a very personal thing taking place in a public arena. After all, I said to myself, Nikolaj Znaider and Nikolaj Szeps-Znaider will surely be perceived as the same person when the name appears in a season brochure or in a musical context. It turned out I was half right. And it is true….. When people change their name, it is usually to something simpler and I am keenly aware that Szeps easily becomes Schweppes or, as in a particularly unfortunate incident on live television, Sheps-Peps. Sir Edward Elgar wrote his violin concerto for the great Austrian violinist Fritz Kreisler, who premiered it in Among those who champion it today is a violinist who feels a personal connection when performing it. On the printed score of his violin concerto, Elgar wrote: "Herein is enshrined the soul of The work, says violinist Nikolaj Szeps-Znaider, is intensely personal. But I love it. That's one quote Just exactly to whom Elgar was referring with those five dots has been subject to speculation: that it was someone whose name had five letters, possibly Alice Stuart-Wortley, a family friend of the Elgars, or possibly his wife, Alice. Performing it also has personal meaning for Szeps-Znaider, who says he loved the concerto but never played it until he began working with Sir Colin Davis, who became his mentor. It was the violin of Fritz Kreisler, to whom the concerto was dedicated. So I thought, well, I have to play it.

The Strad. And it is true….. Znaider was performing again three days later. Znaider never used to cancel. There is someting feminine about him and his manner. The problem is SNOW. I think his American career is coming to an end. A kewpie doll quality. Mary Ann asks about you often, and wonders whether you will ever make it to Syracuse, which I told her was unlikely—at which point she asked when you next plan to come to Princeton for a visit, so that she might come down while you were here with Nancy and me. Both parties got what they wanted; Znaider was paid a pittance of a fee. Opus3 told Znaider to shape up or ship out: that the problems were of his own making and were his alone to correct, and that Opus3 did not provide babysitting services to clients. Gergiev bailed him out of that jam. Drew80 July 14, PM.
