I feel like everyone gets their peak days around 11 or 12 of their cycle and mine are just a bunch of negatives. Is this normal? If you have a perfect 28day cycle which is uncommon then you can expect to ovulate around day 14 or 15 and typically get a positive opk around 12 but I don't see that too much. If you have a longer cycle you'll expect a later peak. For example, I have a day cycle and I usually peak around day 18 or Just continue to test with opks and you'll probably have no issues getting a peak. No need to worry yet!

OPKs, or ovulation prediction kits, can be a simple way to help determine when you are ovulating—or about to in this case. In function, OPKs are similar to pregnancy tests in that they are a strip or stick that tests your urine, but they can be a bit trickier to read. Understanding how really requires a quick course in the hormones of the menstrual cycle. At the beginning of your cycle day one of bleeding or cycle day 1 the hormones that dominate your menstrual cycle, estrogen and progesterone, are both low. FSH prompts the follicles in your ovary to develop an egg for fertilization. Development of this egg triggers estrogen production. High estrogen then stimulates LH to be produced.

I can also depend on how much water you drink. Newest First. When interpreting an OPK, the test line should be as dark as, or darker than, the control line. Sometimes our bodies produce lh too early when the egg isnt ready so ovulation fails, then it tries again. Just helpful to know the peak to be more sure of exact ovulation day. My cycles are 35 days. So if you have longer cycles, just be aware that they may get lighter without getting a positive test line at least as dark as the control and then darken again.
