Pacifica Elise Northwest is a recurring character on Gravity Falls. She is considered the most popular girl in Gravity Falls, Oregon. She is the great-great-granddaughter of the supposed founder of the town, Nathaniel Northwest , and due to this, she treated everyone snobbishly in order to keep up her family's high status and reputation. Before Dipper gave her the courage to speak up against her parents, she was a recurring enemy of the Pines family, mainly as Mabel Pines ' arch-rival. Up until the events of " Northwest Mansion Mystery ", Pacifica was a stereotypical wealthy blonde girl, acting stuck-up, sarcastic, rude, arrogant, and mean. She had looked down cruelly on "weirdos" such as Mabel and her friends Candy and Grenda , and often used her ancestry to raise up her status and boss other people around. In "Northwest Mansion Mystery", it is revealed that she has her bully nature is because of her parents' very strict high standards and expectations for her, tied in with Pavlovian behavioral conditioning, possibly including some form of abuse. At the end of the episode, she ignores her father to do the right thing, and has a complete change of heart, befriending the common folk of the town. After seeing all the horrible acts her ancestors have committed, she was greatly appalled, showing that she does indeed have morals of her own. According to Alex Hirsch , Pacifica is very insecure about herself, possibly the reason why she demonstrated such pride in getting Mabel's feelings down. Pacifica has long blonde hair with blunt-looking bangs and dark blue eyes. Observant viewers will notice that, in the second season, she has a part in her bangs. Nobody on Gravity Falls —heck, maybe no other character on television—is more totally comfortable in her own skin than Mabel. The only slight problem is that such a character, kind of by definition, has to be awfully one-dimensional. Unlike his sister, Dipper is decidedly not comfortable in his own skin, but at his best this moves beyond simple pre teen awkwardness. Indeed, while each sibling can be fiercely protective of the other, Dipper probably edges his sister on that point, and that made it easier to incorporate Dipper into previous Mabel and Pacifica stories; he needed no motivation beyond a well-established need to defend and help his sister. I was shocked that Dipper so completely followed through on his vow, yet that resolute reaction set the stage for all their subsequent interactions. The main reason I say I was shocked by Dipper telling off Pacifica is that there is one main circumstance in which Dipper will be a total hypocrite, and that brings us back to his hormones. Even then, Dipper and Mabel barely interact past the first five minutes; from a storytelling perspective, Mabel only matters inasmuch as she convinces Dipper to help out Pacifica, and then her presence allows for that goofy B-plot with her, Candy, and Grenda competing over that dreamy young Austrian noble. She is legitimately terrified of her parents, and that dang bell is more unnerving than a more overt threat.

Pacifica is an unfriendly, sarcastic, and spoiled girl who is Mabel's primary rival. Pacifica looks down on Mabel and thinks her eccentric personality is annoying and immature. She uses people's insecurities to manipulate them into doing whatever she wants and despises Mabel for standing up against her. She gets her comeuppance when Dipper reveals to her that her entire family's prestige is built on a lie, horrifying Pacifica. Also, in the episode "Northwest Mansion Mystery," it is shown that she is afraid of standing up to her parents and disappointing them. Later though, she finds out all of the terrible things her family has done, she proves herself to be different from her family by defying her parents and opening up the Northwest Mansion gates to commoners mostly to save Dipper.
