This post will let you see how easy it is with a little planning and elbow grease to paint a white refrigerator in a stainless steel finish using paint.

To most people, stainless steel appliances have the look of sophistication, quality and elegance. However, they come with a significantly higher price tag — especially refrigerators. So, what if you could transform your white or black fridge into a modern and industrial-looking stainless steel appliance… simply by using paint? Well, you can! I was actually surprised by how easy the project is, and how realistic the final result turns out.

Have you ever bough a stainless steel appliance, only to realize it is on the biggest lies out there?! Literally all they do is stain, and show smudges, and random water stains. For our retro glam kitchen makeover , I had originally wanted to put a new door on our washer, one with a more retro look. The prices were out of my range, so we decided to try painting it to match the kitchen cabinets. Wanna know how to paint plywood kitchen cabinets? I recommend you also wear latex gloves , eye protection and mask for the sanding part. I used two grits of sandpaper on our orbit sander : 60 and I really wanted to rough up the surface and remove any random gunk. You could take it a step further and use a , but a good primer will save you the hassle. After a few passes with the sandpaper, your surface should look like this. Before you can get to painting, you have to prime! I used a weenie foam roller and applied 3 thin coats of primer. The thinner, the better.

I have to tell you though, if you think this is frivolous my husband would agree. Your appliances are still in great working condition, but their appearance is not so great anymore. Prepare the appliance by sanding the steel. Apply a primer. Use an oil-based or epoxy paint. Seal the paint with wax. Painting your appliances is an affordable way to update the appearance of your appliances.

It did get one tiny scratch when a sharp metal bar bumped onto it, but it was super easy to touch up. What is the brand of gold spray paint please? What a fabulous transformation. The dishwasher is still a work in progress. Can you recognize it?!? She texted me one day and told me she had found a product that could be used to paint a refrigerator to look like stainless steel. Lessons learned: Initially I used gold spray paint also on the handles, however, I noticed some gold was rubbing off on our hands! I picked up this menu at Staples not too long ago since my kids ask me what is for dinner pretty much when they eat breakfast, and this helps prepare them for what is to come, like it or not!
