Not many Indian films or filmmakers have handled the topic of sexuality as sensitively as Ram, and he treats it with respect. Mammootty, in his most nuanced and matured performances in recent times, plays Amudhavan and we see him play a character that most stars of his stature would refrain from accepting.

I also knew Priya would not be insistent without good reason. This film depicted a condition to be pitied, rather than understood, leave alone embraced. A few minutes into Peranbu, you realise there is much more to the story of a single father Amudhavan Mammootty , whose whole world is his daughter Paapa Sadhana. She has cerebral palsy, and is, in fact, too afraid to even let her father close. Ram, as a director, has an easy way of slipping in the details and takes you through the emotions of each character step by step.
