Waffles was released to go home from the animal hospital last night. She has been resting and getting lots of snuggles, loves, and attention from us. Although her breathing has improved drastically, they still were a little concerned for fluid build up over the next few days so we still are keeping a close eye on her. The vet is speculating that her back legs may remain immobile long term due to potential nerve damage or injury to her spinal cord. We go back for a checkup next week to see how things are progressing and figure out a plan going forward. A CT scan and surgery are options the vet have already mentioned. She has already been through so much and we want to ensure she is living her best life. Currently we are building her a DIY wheel chair so she can be more mobile and walk around with minimal assistance as well as try and build up her strength. Although she ran several blocks AFTER getting hit by the truck, she is now barely standing and keeps locking out her legs when we try and get her to move from her bed.
