Hey guys, just wondering if anyone has had any experience with Pickles car auctions in Melbourne. The car I'm looking at it 'fixed pricing' so I'm assuming that it's just like a dealer? I know that the auction cars can't be test driven etc, but what about fixed price? Also, are you able to get the car checked out by a mechanic? What would be the best procedure for it RACV service? The car I'm looking at is an ex-Corporate i30 with 40,km. Seems like a good option for me, and not too sure about how to go about getting it checked first. Hi Kiz, a friend bought a 'fixed-price' car at Pickles SA. Was an ex-lease one. Pickles didn't give a normal warranty on it though - the warranty was through a third party - and when I researched the warranty at the time it seemed a bit suspect. If you want to go ahead with it I suggest you do all the normal things - check the car history encumbrances etc check the service history, look for signs of crashes etc. We went in there multiple times When they weren't busy during quiet times -not near auctions, closing time…. We treated them well and they responded in kind. Remember though - they are there to sell the car - so don't just trust them. I hope you realise that the fixed price cars can be purchased at their auction as well?

Besides the missus keeps reading all the posts about diff clunks, dodgy brakes, weak transmissions, fried clutches and weekends away where god knows what goes on. She's keeping a close eye on proceedings. I'm keen once we get the finances sorted but I think the eb's going to have to do for a while yet. I said no.
