I'm guessing that at some point in your golfing career, you've been in the market to buy a new driver. Today I'm hoping to shed a little light on what manufacturers are doing to make their clubs perform the best they possibly can. The next time you head out to purchase a driver, you'll be much better equipped for your search after today! So this driver, this Ping G Plus has the lowest farthest back, the center of gravity is as low and as far back as any driver on the market right now. Now going back to the question earlier, how much different is that from 20 years ago? The MOI on drivers back then was about half that. So what does that mean for your actual mishits? All the forgiveness and performance of the G with more adjustability and better sound. That commitment to getting every player into the perfect club is evident in the new G Plus driver. Not only does it feature a moveable weight to customize ball flight, it also has an upgraded hosel adjustment system. I was very excited to test it and see if it could dethrone my beloved G Max. What is different is that the Dragonfly Technology is no longer visible on the back of the head. Compared to my G Max, the cc G Plus driver looks smaller and more streamlined. Also, the back of the crown is cleaner and sleeker looking. I remember hitting the G for the first time and remarking to the fitter that the sound was a massive upgrade over the previous generation.

This is something I will be evaluating and reporting on. FYI all of our bunkers have soft fluffy sand except for that green side bunker. Ok, so here I am — late winter at the driving range with the Aldilla shaft in that GBB and they are mostly pull hooks. Moving the weight back to the centre and switching to one of the other stock shafts in the Mitsubishi Tensei Orange delivered the same performance with much better accuracy and feel. Play it or Trade it? Let me explain that a little bit more too. As I stated in my Stage 1 review, to my eye, the G is very modest in appearance. From the moment I had my initial fitting, I knew that the G was going to be something special. If you happen to lose the instructions — no worries the connector is clearly marked and has eight settings. Stock shaft, stock grip and stock setting. So why not use carbon fiber instead of this ultra, ultra-lightweight, or very thin lightweight metal? I can't say for certain, but it feels as if this roughness contributes to the forgiveness of the club. I need just a bit of that mojo..!
