We had a letter from his doctor stating he has dimentia, lives in a memory care unit, and "he has difficulty following one step instructions, knows his name only and has not managed his finances for the last 5 years. They said the doctor didn't make it clear that he's incapacitated due to the dimentia even though she stated he's in a memory care unit "secondary to neurocognitive decline". PNC went so far as to speculate that my father might just be lazy and that's why he's not handling his own finances. They see it as him just not doing the task. Thankfully, as this process dragged on for weeks, and the closing date was approaching, I walked down the street to Chase bank to start the same process.
