On checking the character sheet, I confirmed that the skill has no value listed for critical strike chance, so it can never crit. This initially surprised me, but I checked:. Precise Technique and Resolute Technique both correctly prevent Elemental Overload from granting any increased damage, but skills that have no natural critical strike chance still get the bonus even though they can never trigger it.

Elemental Damage refers to fire damage, cold damage, and lightning damage collectively. Passives refer to elemental damage will affect all 3 of these Damage Types. Traps, mines, and totems benefit from the damage bonus if you activate it with a skill you use yourself. Minions do not interact with Elemental Overload in any way. Why is elemental overload worded to only work with players and not totems? It's worded that way because that's what it does, and having the wording say something else would be problematic. If you mean why it works that way, then I'm afraid that's an example of the kind of question that's outside the scope of this thread. I can tell you how it does work you need to crit something, so your totems critting something won't cut it, but once active, since totems use your skills, they benefit from it , but not why that decision was made. Whenever the player deals a critical strike, the damage bonus from Elemental Overload will apply for 8 seconds. This effect does not count as a buff and is not affected by modifiers to duration, nor can its expiry rate be modified by Temporal Chains. The Ailments never count as being from Critical Strikes effect causes any damage over time multiplier specific to ailments from critical strikes to not apply. Resolute Technique keystone never deals Critical Strikes. Therefore, if Resolute Technique is allocated, Elemental Overload cannot activate. All the ignites you inflict will be on the enemy until they expire, but only the highest-damage one will actually apply at any given time. The hit that grants the EO bonus will not do this, as you didn't have the buff when calculating that hit, so that hit's ignite is not boosted.

In Totem chapter it is written that totems hits are counted as player's ones. Therefore, totems should work with Elemental Overload on crit,as well as generate power charges from Romira's Banquet ring.
Due to the latest balancing changes, we do not recommend playing this build anymore, as it does not meet the high standards we apply to our guides in terms of fun and performance. We are leaving it up as a reference and it might be revived in a later patch. Elemental Hit catapulted itself to superlative status on its release and has since cemented itself as one of the strongest skills in Path of Exile. Boasting incredible single-target damage, fast clear speeds, high mobility, and the classic feel of playing a bow-build, there are few outright disadvantages to playing this build. By stacking Critical Strike we can melt bosses within seconds — anything that cannot be killed instantly can then be easily kited and safely dealt with. Deadeye is a really fast Ascendancy, blowing through maps like no other, and keeping a smile on your face the entire time. It provides us with a lot of the things we would otherwise want for as a Critical Strike focused build, such as a huge heaping of Accuracy, as well as naturally boosting our clear speed with Tailwind and Ricochet. Designed for dealing with big and beefy bosses, this build feels really at home ripping up Sirus, Poorjoy's Asylum , and any boss it can lay its fingers on. One huge advantage of playing Deadeye versus Ascendant is that League Starting as this build is far easier , especially for less experienced players that are not as adept at quickly generating currency at the launch of the league. Not only is it an Ascendancy well suited to leveling and mapping, but you can also play an entirely different build — such as Rain of Arrows — until your Combat Focus Dexterity and Strength and Combat Focus Strength and Intelligence Jewels can be acquired.

Precise Technique is best allocated on characters that either have very little life e. Modifiers to critical strike chance and multiplier no longer have any effect and can be ignored when assessing equipment. Life-based builds will typically need to invest somewhat into accuracy, such as getting it on Weapons, Helmets, Gloves, Shields, Rings, or Amulets. CI builds due to have only 1 Maximum Life will not need to invest any further into accuracy, having already exceeded the requirement due to the baseline accuracy obtained from Dexterity on all characters. It does not grant a bonus to your character, but to skills in sockets connected to it. Place into an item socket connected to a socket containing the Skill Gem you wish to augment. But lastly I've read ex build guides the authors stated minions don't trigger EE,only player's hits does So it is as follows - totems are different entities, not me,therefore: 1 they don't trigger Elemental Overload, because EO explicitly states "you crit" 2 I won't be given power charges having Romira's ring equipped for hits preformed by my totems, because Any more than the caterpillar ceases to be when it cocoons.
