In this framework, ten depthinterviews were made with members having different qualities for each of these CSOs and participant observations were realized in the general meetings, elections and activities of these organizations. For this reason, the concept of civil society began to be viewed in Turkey as a tool for eradicating statist totalitarianism and a magic formula for democratization. In this period, many civil society organizations were established in Turkey either to provide protection from authoritarian statism or to eliminate statist pressures coming from the top echelons of society.
