I cant find decent info on this so I thought I;d get peoples opinions. Personally I'm finding the metal bar to be far the best, as it can be used well on multiples one handed. But it's also a building material so maybe I should be keeping them back for that? Spears seem great but just break to quickly. Also just as a side, what guns are worth never using? Axes damage clothing which is something to consider.

If you're a fan of zombie survival games , you've probably heard a thing or two about Project Zomboid in the last few years. Even though it's been in development for over ten years, it continues to be popular due to the reintroduction of multiplayer. Even though the game also has firearms, they will usually lead to your untimely death due to the noise, so melee weapons will usually be your main zombie disposal tools. But figuring out which of them is the best when starting out is easier said than done, especially since there are a lot of them. So let's have a look at some of the best melee weapons that Project Zomboid has on offer. One of the easiest weapons to find in Zomboid, the Metal Bar — or its brethren the Lead Pipe and the Metal Pipe — are the most basic short blunt weapons in the game. There is an abundance of them in most industrial areas, warehouses, and garages. A nice trick is the fact that certain destructible parts of the environment, such as fences or gates, will yield a few bars or pipes when destroyed. If you're sorely lacking a melee weapon then getting some zombies to take down a fence will fix your problem. A police officer's main melee weapon, nightsticks are a pretty good find in the world of Project Zomboid. They can be dropped by zombie policemen, or found inside their patrol cars and police stations. The best part about the nightstick is the fact that it loses durability a lot more slowly than many of the other short blunt weapons.
Take out your hammer, bat, and nails, and you'll be able to make one of the best weapon upgrades in Project Zomboid.
Even a decade after its release, Project Zomboid keeps attracting a horde of new players. First released in , the game had a rocky start, but with Build 41, a major update released in , the game made a strong comeback. In order to survive in Project Zomboid, you will need to find a weapon fast. Some weapons are harder to find or craft, and others may be more powerful but too loud. Finding the most suitable weapon for your gameplay may take a while, but it is worth it. The Baseball Bat makes a great starter weapon and is one of the better melee weapons in Project Zomboid. If you choose the Builder playstyle, you will spawn with one alongside a hammer.
See the best melee weapons in Project Zomboid, with the Katana standing out as the top choice for its power and rarity. The best melee weapon in Project Zomboid is the Katana. If you're into taking down zombies, the Katana is the ideal choice. With a Katana, you can almost instantly kill most zombies. It's categorized as a two-handed weapon in Project Zomboid, making it a powerful ally in your survival. Not only is the Katana powerful and rare , but it also allows you to kill multiple zombies at once. Plus, these weapons lose durability very slowly, ensuring longevity in your battles against the undead. Finding Katanas can be a bit of a hunt. You can check gun stores and hardware stores , or, if you're lucky, you might find one on the corpses of zombies after 30 days ; however, stumbling upon one this way is pretty rare. The Machete, found in the Long Blade category, stands out as a very powerful choice.

Running from crowds of zombies can be a huge challenge, and only the right combination of strategy and dumb luck will see you come out alive. One of the biggest beginner mistakes is getting too excited when you find a gun and popping off zombies left and right. Guns, realistically, are very noisy and will attract loads of undead to your location. Because of this, the survivor is heavily reliant on melee weapons to defend themselves. Sometimes these weapons second as tools, or else are only accessible through crafting.

Guns, realistically, are very noisy and will attract loads of undead to your location. Most decently-sized houses will have one inside their garage or a closet, so finding one should never be an issue. You should clearly stay away from the wooden mallet since the others have slightly better stats, although not by a lot. Also trains katana's skill as it turns out. This weapon lacks range, but has decent damage with a very fast swing. You might get lucky by searching the pawn shop, but in your short lifespan in this game, don't bet on getting it. OSK thrust is nice when it happens. I'm not a huge fan of blades for combat but a well used hunting knife is also quite potent. The Crowbar is quite similar to the axe in that it works both as a great weapon and a tool. Otherwise, its damage is great, and you can also use it to break doors and chop trees. When it comes to base stats, the rare Katana comes out on top every time.

While this weapon's got a pretty mediocre base damage and durability, its fairly light and can be used for insta-kill stab attacks. Half the weight of a sledge, with all the BAM! Later on with gaining levels and skill fireman axe also does the same, 1 swing one dead zombie. But it's also a building material so maybe I should be keeping them back for that? Don't pick a fight you can't finish with this glass cannon. You can use them to break doors and chop down trees effectively. The most common long blunt weapon that you can find, the crowbar is an excellent weapon, as well as a utility tool that fulfills plenty of important roles. All good picks, but you guyys forget about metal bars! They can be dropped by zombie policemen, or found inside their patrol cars and police stations. The Machete works perfectly as a weapon , but as a tool, it can only remove bushes. When it comes to base stats, the rare Katana comes out on top every time. On my current game I've had a really tough luck finding any decent melee weapons so I've been using the new double barreled shotgun. If you have baseball player as your hobby, it adds on the damage. The machete has the biggest damage out of all the short weapons, being able to one-shot most zombies with a few levels in short blades.
