I just don't like how much it blocks off underneath. I got a set of drive on ramps that give me good clearance and more access.

Buick, will they safely lift the Buick up from the frame or will they damage the frame? Lifting capacity shows up to 7k Lbs. As to the original question, what year and model Buick is going to be lifted? Different years may require different considerations. I have the lbs Quick Jack. It lifts my lbs Electra with ease. It lifts my Mountaineer with ease. It is a nice lift for a garage that can not accommodate a standard garage lift high ceilings. That Costco lift looks interesting If I had one and lifted any car I would have jack stands at all 4 corners as an insurance feature. As far as getting underneath a car on the lift and jack stands, I don't think that I would do it. But that would come in handy for brake and front end work. I guess I would get under a car to quickly pull an oil pan bolt
Raise to the frame. I've only lifted lighter cars so far, so I can't speak to your application.

Work on cars long enough, and eventually you'll want some kind of automatic lift that offers freedom from the floor jack and jack stand shuffle every time you want to wrench. The gold standard is the two-post lift that can raise a vehicle overhead in minutes, but my garage has a low roof -- anything that goes up more than a few feet won't work. The good news is there are plenty of low-rise and mid-rise lifts out there that work even in tight garage spaces. I finally took the plunge myself and bought a Quick Jack portable lift based on a fellow gearhead's recommendation, with a sale at Costco sealing the deal. Two key benefits of the Quick Jack are its affordability and portability. The two lifting frames allow for unrestricted access to the middle of a vehicle, and they fold flat for storage when not in use.

I was thinking about to get one of these for tire changes, it would pays itself off over the years and the cars in the family. It is a nice lift for a garage that can not accommodate a standard garage lift high ceilings Edited December 21, by avgwarhawk see edit history. To the original question, if your car weighs lbs and the jacks are rated for , it should work. There is a decent locking system to prevent hydraulic failure giving enough room to access under the car. I'll Keep It Short and Sweet. Insert Quotes Quotes Post Reply. A grand was a great deal. There is more room than any jack stand can offer. The only was to avoid that is obviously to use a lift. If using jack stands, the stands should not tilt or creak when raising the other end of the car, because the jack will just roll as the angle of the car to the ground changes. Can be a bit of a kerfaffle lining up, that maybe just me wanting to get them perfectly placed? If I had one and lifted any car I would have jack stands at all 4 corners as an insurance feature. I will say that the 49's frame runs along the out side edge of car under the doors and then turns in to come around front wheels. I leave my car on it over winter, very solid and safe. All in all the quick jacks can and will make your wheel change and brake repairs much more convenient but like every thing they have their limitations and should never be pushed past them.
