Just got home from the auction yesterday, very dissapointing. Ritchie Bros grouped pumps together which I thought was dumb. Thought they might have done better doing them individually. They definately worked the pumps for a lot longer than any other equipment. Doesn't add up. I watched online and formed the same opinion. There were some deals but overall they did pretty good. Yes,they really worked them hard real hard. We shall see when the buyers run out of money but a good time to start updating some equipment. Ritchies tends to group similar items together, selling by choice even though they may vary by year or horsepower, or other specifications. The theory behind this is to get bidders to bid on their choice out of a group of machines, hoping that 2 bidders are bidding on two different top choices, and the possible fear that the 'high bidder' may take more than one. They then open it up to the runner-up to take the next one a the high bid price. Recently, they've also started letting anyone else grab one. For the most part, you are better off to let them start the auction over again. You can tell they don't understand pumps, listing them online by the chassis make instead of pump make.
