It adds layers to this villain's character while showing that for a brief moment, Emma's will was stronger than Isabella's could have ever been at her age. Packed with truly haunting suspense, complex villains, and protagonists that audiences want to see escape their bad situation, it's no wonder that The Promised Neverland eventually got itself an anime to adapt the manga's first arc and another season on the way. This makes it all the scarier in the darker scenes of the anime, Isabella's humming in the first episode particularly leaves an impact in this regard. Because of the amount of time that's devoted to building up the Grace Field kids' plan and eventual escape, seeing them pull it off in chapter 37 feels all that more rewarding.
