Eggs are items found in Subnautica and Subnautica: Below Zero. They are the unhatched versions of their respective Fauna. Until they hatch, an egg is labeled as an unknown creature egg, changing to match the name of the creature the egg contained if it hatches inside an Alien Containment. The PDA gives the player this information instantly no matter where they are, without needing to be present to observe which creature came from which egg. After learning this information this way in-game, or from the table below, similar eggs can be identified by the biome it comes from, its appearance, and size. Almost all eggs can be placed inside an Alien Containment. After placing an egg inside an Alien Containment, it will stay where it was placed. After one to three in-game days, the egg will hatch into a smaller version of its respective species. The hatched creature will slowly grow until it is moderately-sized or can fit within the confines of the Alien Containment. They can die inside of the aquarium, however, if the aquarium's population limit is surpassed. Baby creatures can be picked up and placed outside in the water, where they will instantly become fully grown. Most normally aggressive creatures will not attack the player if hatched in the Alien Containment, allowing the player to scan it even after it is released in the wild. The exceptions are the Ampeel , as its electric shocks still apply damage, and the Crabsquid. Eggs can be destroyed.

Reaper leviathan egg
Being set on the mysterious alien planet of B, Subnautica mixes survival elements with exploration as players set out to discover why their ship crashed. Dominated by water, the planet is filled with its own array of plants and animals—some of which are incredibly dangerous. One of those animals, the Reaper Leviathan, is infamous as being one of the more terrifying creatures in the entire game. This infamy is particularly noteworthy since reapers can be encountered fairly early in any given playthrough. As overachieving gamers, this naturally begs the question of if it can be killed or not. Due to their size, reaper leviathans reside in large areas with a lot of open space. This means they can reside in areas like the Crash Zone, Dunes, and Mountain biomes.
