Beautiful place to stop for the night by Proserpina lake, which was dammed in Roman times. Very quiet out of season, busy in summer. Tour of the lake on foot or by bike, 6 km. Quite close to the wonderful Roman remains at Merida. Muy tranquilo fuera de temporada.

Communication was good always responsive. The little hiccups we had was with the main entrance. Definitely recommend asking for the garage door opener especially if you have a car. Also, all the cleaning supplies are outside, kind of hidden on the side of the house. Which is totally fine but we would have liked to have known so we could have been sweeping during our stay, we ended up finding them the last day because we asked. The place have many more nice features than what is presented in pictures. Hortencia's place is as per the description. We stayed for three weeks at Casa Hoto. It is spacious, has a well equipped kitchen, a great master bedroom with really comfy hammocks, it is close to the Centro but not too close. We essentially walked everywhere from Casa Hoto and it felt safe even at night.
