Revolution pi
KUNBUS was founded in with revolution pi goal of making innovative and economical products available to the constantly growing industrial networks market, revolution pi. The Compute Module is a Raspberry Pi in a more flexible form factor, and is intended for industrial application.
Open source, modular, cost-effective. Revolution Pi is an open, modular and inexpensive industrial PC based on the well-known Raspberry Pi. The 24V powered modules are connected via an overhead connector in seconds and can be easily configured via a graphical configuration tool. The module, which looks like a notebook RAM bar, is limited to the essentials and does not have any external interfaces. With the Raspberry Pi Compute Module the foundation has been laid for equipping the Raspberry Pi with a robust and industry-compatible periphery developed by us, which meets all important industrial standards.

In the following paragraphs, we will explain why this is necessary, the technical details and why Revolution Pis with the Compute Module 4 are not available yet. As you know, the Revolution Pi family was not spared from the global chip shortage. In the last months we had to put many customers and people interested in RevPis off. This was mainly due to the supply of compute modules, which could not be delivered sufficiently. The difference between the S and SE series is quickly explained: The S series is compatible with all expansion modules including our fieldbus gateways. Fieldbus gateways are not supported in the SE series. This alteration is also based on the global chip shortage: The required IC, which is responsible for the connection of the gateways via PiBridge, is currently not available for us in adequate quantities. As we see from the sales figures, many RevPi users operate their devices without gateways: Therefore, we have decided to launch the SE series in order to make sure that we can build enough devices for every customer requirements. One Device — Fully Packed. The open platform concept including full root rights allows the user maximum freedom of design when implementing his projects. To connect sensors and actuators, the RevPi Compact is equipped with eight digital and analog inputs as well as eight digital and two analog outputs. Two Ethernet interfaces each with its own MAC address enable the device to be integrated simultaneously in two different networks. The device also has a 4-pole RS interface with screw terminals. The low profile design allows the device to be installed in sub-distribution systems, which are commonly found in building automation. The operating system used is an adapted Raspbian with a real-time patch.

The energy industry today faces enormous challenges. Renewable energies, electromobility and grid expansion are just some of the buzzwords being discussed in politics, the media and society. In addition, the liberalisation of the electricity market and the resulting increase in competition as well as digitalisation allow completely new structures and business models.
