Psittacus is a genus of African grey parrots in the subfamily Psittacinae. It contains two species: the grey parrot Psittacus erithacus and the Timneh parrot Psittacus timneh. For many years, the grey parrot and Timneh parrot were classified as subspecies; the former as the nominate, the latter as P. However, in the taxa were recognized as separate species by BirdLife International on the basis of genetic, morphological, plumage and vocal differences. These parrots are found in the primary and secondary rainforest of West and Central Africa.

Royal Wings Aviary raises lovebirds. We raise peachface and dilute masked lovebirds. All of our babies are handfed and socialized. Lovebirds are very active, curious, and definitely have personality. Their lifespan is years or more. Lovebirds are the clowns of the bird world. They are entertaining to watch. They like to hang upside down and do all kinds of acrobatics. One time I had young lovebirds in a cage with a small swing in it.

We raise English Budgies. All of our baby birds are handfed and socialized. Our English Budgies have been adopted by people across the United States, and some even reside at a resort in Haiti. English Budgies are much bigger than regular parakeets, or American Budgies. We have a variety of colors ranging from violet and blue to white, gray, yellow-green, yellow, and rainbows. Some of our English Budgies have normal markings, and many are beautiful mutations. I have read that English Budgies are the best talking parrots. Truthfully, I thought there was no way that could be true. How could they possibly compare to African Gray Parrots, the best talkers of all? Then a very special baby English Budgie was born in our aviary.

At Royal Wings Aviary we not only handfeed our babies, but we spend hours a day socializing them so they make wonderful pet birds. We keep them in a climate controlled environment which includes air purifiers and humidifiers as needed.
