I was prowling one of our local music stores in Madtown trying various guitars just to see what jumped out, and I happened upon the SA I had been playing the SA a few times, HSS config and flame maple top, nice gee-tar. Ibanez called the color "charcoal brown", but it looks like a deep burgundy in person, and really flatters the grain of the mahogany. I pulled the off the wall and was impressed by its light weight similar to the and resonance right off the bat, it rings nicely unplugged. I really like the 5-way switching for the dual humbuckers, it gets some tonal colors that are quite different from my Strat. The neck pup on the right clean setting is nice and airy with a warm, forward midrange. The bridge has a nice midrangy chunk that sounds especially good overdriven And that neck The vibrato is incredibly smooth It stays in tune a little better than the Strat does, dive-bombing isn't its forte but gentle pitch-bends and vibratos stay true to pitch. I played it a good while through a Classic 30 I have one myself, so it was a good point of reference and the salesman asked if I was interested in the axe. I bit.
