Really unpleasant to find out all turtles carry Salmonella. Even with proper handwashing and sanitation, I feel I will contract it eventually during cleaning or feeding. Is this non-sense, or should we really be scared of Salmonella? As long as you use good common sense, wash your hands, keep a clean tank, no licking turtles, etc. Turtles are not the only animals that carry salmonella, dogs, cats, farm animals etc. I too was thinking it was inevitable to get it somehow. Was quite nervous. But since this is not a family of turtle lickers I thought our usual precautions would be fine. It does happen. But it also does happen when people cook chicken too.
