Tall Tales are lengthy, story driven Quests with a focus on the story of Sea of Thieves.
Over the years, the world of Sea of Thieves and the content in it has grown and evolved. One of the main focuses of updates to the multiplayer action-adventure has been on Tall Tales. These quests differ from normal ones as they are based on the stories told in Tale Books. There are a total of 17 different Tall Tales that can be experienced in the game, including the tutorial Tall Tale that everyone must play through to gain access to sailing the seas. While each tale features a lot of cool experiences, it is clear that the team over at Rare continues making these quests better.

Tall Tales are lengthy, story driven Quests with a focus on the story of Sea of Thieves. Players may vote to begin most Tales at a Tale Books by voting on one at the captain's table or by finding one near a NPC who will issue an introduction and provide necessary Quest Items of the chosen adventure. Tall Tales differ from other Quests in that they are initially begun by voting at their respective Tale Books found beside specific NPCs. These locations are marked on the Map Table with Map Markers displaying the Tale's icon which can be interacted with when the map is zoomed in to them. These Markers can be toggled in the Game Options. More information on where to begin each specific Tall Tale is also noted on the "More Info" page when hovering over individual Tales in the Tall Tales tab in the Reputation Menu. An active Tall Tale will appear on the ship's Voyage Table , where the crew can then vote to cancel the Tale. When Crew members have reached a Checkpoints of a Tall Tale, they can also put these Tales up for a vote at the Voyage Table, rather than the Tale Book, then start from these Checkpoints with the required Quest Items appear on the table.

The order of Tall Tales can certainly be confusing when navigating Sea of Thieves menus. If you look at the list of Tall Tales in the Reputation tab, they have one order, but on the quest table, they have a different one. The Shores of Gold campaign Tall Tales can be played in any order :. The Ashen Age campaign:. The Legend of Monkey Island campaign:. The campaigns are not connected story-wise, so technically you can start with either one as long as you follow the order of the Tall Tales in those campaigns. These campaigns act more like standalone adventures you can take on whenever you feel like it. Interact with the quest table and select the Tall Tales tab. Choose the campaign you want, the Tall Tale, and hit the start button. From there you can set sail to the destination or use the fast-travel mechanic to immediately kick off your next adventure.

In order to prevent Davy Jones from gaining more power, Jack and your crew must work together to sneak into the fortress where it's all going down. The job of the crew is to go out and find it somewhere in The Ancient Isles. When Players lose their Quest Items, the Tale will fail and they will have to start over. Every Tall Tale has a number of Checkpoints that can be acquired when reaching specific chapters or goals in a Tall Tale. Players will have one saved checkpoint per Tall Tale. This Tale must be completed in order to set sail on The Sea of Thieves , it can then be repeated at any time from the Main Menu via a button at the bottom right corner of the screen. This can be done by using an Enchanted Lantern that can retrace the crew's steps. Most Quest Items also cannot be sold to any of the Companies, making them only useful for the Crew that is doing the specific Tall Tale.
