The ninja clans in Naruto are a major part of its story. Almost every important character in the series comes from one prominent clan or another, senju clan members. Among the most critical clans is the Senju clan. They are the direct descendants of the Sage of Six Paths, who spread chakra throughout the world.

Butsuma Senju was the harsh father and ninja master to his three sons Hashirama, Tobirama, Itama. Hashirama went on to be the First Hokage. He was the strongest shinobi of his time, and hailed as the "God of Shinobi", and the only known natural user of Wood Style. Itama Senju was the brother of Hashirama and Tobirama. He died as a young boy at the hands of the Uchiha Clan. Nawaki is the younger brother of Tsunade, and the grandson of the First Hokage. He dreamed of becoming Hokage but died in combat at a young age.

However, despite their importance, the clan seems to have disappeared by the start of Naruto. It's surprising that such a prominent and powerful clan would vanish without a trace.

Both the Senju and the Uzumaki are descendants of Asura Otsutsuki, yet their connection to each other remains a big mystery even today.

Naruto's Senju Clan is known to be one of the strongest ninja clans in the entire story. Having existed long before the formation of the hidden villages, the Senju Clan was always considered to be full of mighty warriors. Some of the strongest characters in the story, such as Hashirama Senju, Tobirama Senju, and Tsunade Senju, come from this clan, so their importance to the story cannot be understated. While the Senju Clan certainly does add a lot of depth to the story, there are things about it that simply don't make sense. Hashirama Senju was quite easily the most important person in the history of the Senju Clan.

Throughout his lifetime, Tobirama would work tirelessly to achieve political stability and implement the institutions that made the village system work, thus ensuring Konoha's continuity and prosperity. Tobirama was born during the Warring States Period , and was the second of Butsuma Senju 's four sons. He and his brothers grew up on the battlefield waging constant war with their rivalling clans especially the Uchiha. After the deaths of their brothers: Kawarama and later Itama , Tobirama and his older brother, Hashirama , decided a new shinobi system would need to be implemented to end the cycle of child deaths — a system that would require an alliance between the warring clans. From tracking Hashirama, Tobirama discovered that he was meeting with a boy named Madara : a young Uchiha. After Tobirama reported this to their father, Butsuma pressured Hashirama to lead Madara into an ambush to be carried out by himself and Tobirama.
