The Technics SL-D2 turntable is very common and is a great table for those just starting to explore the vinyl universe. It is semi-automatic and features both auto-return and auto-stop. It came with a universal tubular tonearm with a removable headshell. Not bad for a good quality table if you were on a budget. Even today they are very good performers if taken care of.

I'm pretty late to the party. All I can say is that everything I have played thus far from Zeppelin to Wagner, sounds pretty great. I wish to next start reading up on various cartridges and the difference they may or may not have on my humble ear. The arm is without play and not as heavy as other earlier Japanese arms. It works well with all cartridges I tested. If the speed potentiometer is cleaned, the drive is very smooth. The SL-D3 is the same, but is fully automatic. The B2 is by far not as good. Very nice turntable. Plays excellent, dependable, handled a wide range of cartridges seamlessly. Maybe a little light but still really solid unit with good build quality. Recommend it to anyone if the price isn't crazy. My first encounter with a turntable of the failia technics, was the one that brought a panasonic SG national musical center. This was taction by belt, and with the EPC cartridge. Finally several years ago, I got a used SL-D2, but in excellent condition.

They do tend to have problems with the pitch control or speed but usually just a cleaning of the potentiometer will fix it. The plinth is made of Technics Non Resonant Compound which is a resin material that is noticeably quieter than some of the cheaper plastic plinths Technics used on other tables.

Also what cartridge do you have fitted? If it's a moving magnet cartridge you'll need a dedicated moving magnet turntable input marked MM , but if you have a low-output moving coil cartridge you'll need a moving coil input marked MC. If you're happy that the receiver input is of the correct type and working then it only leaves the cartridge or wiring?

Crispy and clear high end, nice extended bass without emphasis. Plus, it sounds good. Excellent turntable. OLX Poland. The CD player died before that at 10 years and the repairer told me it was not fixable - I think he just wanted it for himself.. Probably eBay. Search in store. April 19, July 14, It is a very fine table for the price. Technics Turntable SL-D3. I like this style as it is a bit narrower than some of the other HOKA styles. In hindsight, I believe the platter bearing may have been the cause of the noise. You must log in or register to reply here.

I stretched it and it's still too tight. If you're considering a serious entry into vinyl, I'd look at some of the other entry level tables. If he doesn't remove the platter and the arm counterweight and secure them separately from the rest of the turntable, you may very well end up with a box of shattered parts rather than a working turntable. I have question, though. Cartridge Database. I love this turntable because there isn't electronic control on speed, and there aren't variation on speed during playback. I added a couple drops of oil to the spindle bearing, but didn't even have to Deoxit the speed adjustment pot. Very attractive looking too. One thing I didn't realize is that some cartridges are better suited to other styles of music. The Technics SL-D2 is not a high end turntable but it is great for someone on a budget or who is just entering the hobby. Oct 17, Big Bill.
