She is the current leader of ThunderClan, with Ivypool as her deputy. She is a daughter of the legendary Firestar and Sandstorm, as well as the sister of Leafpool , mate of Brambleclaw , mother of Alderheart , Sparkpelt , Juniperkit and Dandelionkit, and adoptive mother of Hollyleaf , Jayfeather and Lionblaze. She serves as one of the main protagonists of The New Prophecy , a minor character in the super edition Firestar's Quest , a major protagonist in the Power of Three and Omen of the Stars , a supporting protagonist in A Vision of Shadows, the deuteragonist in The Broken Code and a novella Leafpool's Wish and the titular main protagonist of the super edition Squirrelflight's Hope.

Squirrelstar is a dark ginger she-cat [1] with one white paw, [27] a squirrel-like, bushy tail, [12] and green eyes. Squirrelstar is the current leader of ThunderClan in the lake territories. She was born as Squirrelkit to Firestar and Sandstorm alongside Leafkit. As an apprentice , Squirrelpaw was mentored by Dustpelt. While her sister was calm and patient, Squirrelpaw was independent, stubborn, brave, and fiercely passionate, which often got her into trouble. She followed Brambleclaw on the journey to the sun-drown place , where the two grew close. When the Clans arrived at their new home by the lake, she was given her warrior name , Squirrelflight. She became mates with Brambleclaw, much to her close friend Ashfur's dismay.

However, when Squirrelflight deception about Jayfeather, Lionblaze and Hollyleaf's parentage is finally revealed, Brambleclaw feels deeply betrayed and breaks up with Squirrelflight, much to her distraught. Despite Squirrelflight and Leafpool's wishes, Hollyleaf reveals the truth at a Gathering. When they return, squirrelflight, they are shocked to see how the forest had been destroyed and that their Clans squirrelflight.

Squirrelflight's Hope is the twelfth Warriors Super Edition, taking place halfway between the end of the sixth arc, A Vision of Shadows , and the start of the seventh arc, The Broken Code. Three moons after the Clans shifted their borders to accommodate SkyClan at the end of The Raging Storm , they're changing their minds about the whole thing, much to Squirrelflight's displeasure. ThunderClan and ShadowClan aren't making use of the additional territory that WindClan and RiverClan gave them, and the other Clans are starting to want it back. At a meeting of the leaders and deputies, Squirrelflight comes up with an idea that might work for everyone: there's some territory farther away from the lake, roughly along ShadowClan and ThunderClan's boundary beyond the abandoned Twoleg nest; the Clans simply never had had the need to use it before. Leafstar isn't very warmed to the idea of SkyClan moving yet again , and Bramblestar is unhappy about Squirrelflight apparently undermining him by suggesting it They're at a rocky point in their relationship, especially after Squirrelflight tells him that she wants more kits and realizes that Bramblestar doesn't.
